The (probable) cause of crash of Air India Express Flight IX-1344.

A similar aircraft of Air India Express

On 7 August, 2020 one more Air India Express 737-800 crashed. It departed from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at about 14:14 and crashed while trying to land at its destination airport Kozhikode International Airport at (CCJ) 19:40 . It is very similar to the crash of IX 812 in 2010 (It also overshot the runway at Mangalore Airport). The initial information states that the plane had 184 souls onboard and overshot runway 28-10. The initial images of the crash site shows that the plane is ripped into two pieces. Also that the rescuers have rescued about 170 souls.

ABOUT THE AIRCRAFT:

The aircraft involved in the crash was a Boeing 737-800 registered as VT-AXH was 13.7 years old and handed over to Air India Express in 2006.According to the data fromSeat Guru the plane seated a 181 passengers in an all economy configuration. According to the data flight IX1344 was performing a routine flight from DXB to CCJ. The flight is believed to be a part of Vande Bharat repatriation mission.

WHAT COULD BE THE PROBABLE CAUSE?

This particular flight departed DXB at 14:14 and was about to land in CCJ at about 19:50. The flight time was expected to be 3 hours and 56 minutes.

The most probable answer to this question could be the MONSOON. Earlier this year, a Boeing 737-800 belonging to Pegasus Airlines, flight 2193 was similarly ripped apart after running off the end of the landing runway in Turkey.

But what I feel is that the monsoon can not bring this plane down. There are many other factors too. Many believe VISIBILITY was low and the airplane touched down very late, but it is ruled out as the Boeing 737-800 is capable of doing an auto-landing, and pilots were also very experienced.

According to me two factors played a role in this crash. They are

  1. Monsoon
  2. Friction

Due to Monsoon the runway was wet. Maybe the plane was maybe a little bit high on speed on its approach. The tyres have to reach about 200 km/h from 0. This means a lot of friction. And friction causes heat. Due to this heat, the water on the runway was converted to steam and a small layer of steam was there between the wheel and runway which caused the aircraft to skidd.

These are the probable reasons for the crash that I think would have  happened. The final report may be different. I am not blaming anyone, I am just assuming this. This is just an assumption not the conclusion. Let us all hope for a fair investigaiton and pray of the speedly recovery of those who are injuried and are in hospital.

DO LET ME KNOW YOUR VIEWS IN THE COMMENT. AND ALSO IF YOU HAVE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CRASH DO LET ME KNOW.

R.I.P. all the souls who have departed.
